A race from a bi-gone era is about to happen again in the U.P. of Michigan. Two of our region’s favorite past times combined into one great race. The Great Sno-Bear Biathlon. If you enjoy shooting sports and cross country skiing then this event is for you. This will be a timed event, with minutes added and subtracted for hit and missed targets. The ski trail will be groomed for classical skiing only. No Skating.
You will need to bring your x-c skis and a single shot 22 cal. Rifle with a sling. For the Men’s, Women, and Junior’s classes the course will be 6 miles (9k). There will be 5 stations with 5 shots at each station. AMMUNITION will be provided. Adults and Juniors will carry their own firearms. For the kids class the course will be 2.5 miles (4k) with 5 stations and 5 shots at each station. AMMUNITION and FIREARMS will be provided at each station.
Age limits for Juniors are 14 thru 17 and must have a HUNTERS SAFETY CERTIFICATE.
Age limits for Kids are 10 thru 13 and must have a HUNTER SAFETY CERTIFICATE.
Prizes: 1st 2nd & 3rd places will be awarded Medals and a traveling trophy will go to the first place finisher in each category. A fund raising lunch will be available by the 4-H SHARP SHOOTERS. THE LISTENING INN has limited ski rentals, call for availability.
